Industry Speaks are events meant for both Students and Faculty members of the Partner Institute. Owing to COVID 19 restrictions, these events are conducted virtually by PALS with the help of the ever helpful IITM faculty and experts from industry.

Types of Campus Events

Type 1:  Industry Speaks – Core Engineering
Type 2:  Industry Speaks – Cutting Edge Technology
Type 3:  PALS Analyze (Mini Case Study)
Type 4:  Aware Webinars for Entrepreneurs (AWE sessions)
Type 5:  PALS T2P Lectures (Theory to Practice Session)

Type 1: Industry Speaks – Core Engineering

Technology experts and eminent alumni will be called upon to speak on technical topics of interest related to conventional engineering subjects like Mechanical / Civil / Chemical / Metallurgy / Electrical etc.

The lecture sessions will be followed by a highly interactive session with each college in the respective zone nominating a team of students who would research the topic, participate in a Q&A session with the speaker and also make a presentation on their understanding of the topic.

Target audience will be engineering students from first year to third year.

These will be half day sessions conducted in virtual mode.

Type 2: Industry Speaks – Cutting Edge Technology

Technology experts and eminent alumni will be called upon to speak on technical topics of interest related to cutting edge and breakthrough technology subjects like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Data Science, Block Chain, IOT, VR & AR, Cloud Computing, 3D Printing, Nano Technology etc.

The lecture sessions will be followed by a highly interactive session with each college in the respective zone nominating a team of students who would research the topic, participate in a Q&A session with the speaker and also make a presentation on their understanding of the topic.

Target audience will be engineering students from second year to fourth year. These will be half day sessions. We will conduct the events in virtual mode.

Type 3: PALS Analyze (Mini Case Study)

These are case study analysis sessions for student teams from each college in a zone enabling them to focus on real life problem situations in industry. They would discuss to analyze the case define the problem and search for solutions which will hone both their quantitative and qualitative skills.

Pals analyze gives an opportunity for a select group of students to think on their feet in a high pressure situation and make a presentation to a big audience.

We would encourage participation from 3rd year and 4th year students. These will be half day sessions. We will conduct the events in virtual mode.

Type 4: Aware Webinars for Entrepreneurs

AWE sessions are interactive and conducted by practitioners. Aids participants to fill in the first level Concept and Design Document for any competition. Gives students an understanding of engineering industry practices, including rigors of documentation and compliance.

The event is structure as an intro to the Concept and application,  Examples and Exercises and a Flash Quiz to validate the dissemination and understanding.

Certificate Eligibility
Attendance Certificate for those who registered, marked attendance, attempted the flash quiz and provided feedback

  • Cash Prize, Certificate of Performance for inline Quiz winners
  • Sparkling Star Certificate for credible performance in Quiz.

PALS T2P LECTURES

T2P are theory to practice lectures where awareness is created for students to understand that theoretical concepts have practical application in industry. This has been a hugely popular event for students and faculty alike.

The lectures are usually conducted at IIT Madras by professors who treat an engineering problem as a case study and explain both the theoretical aspects as well as the practical application of the concepts. They are sometimes assisted by the presence of experts from industry who have used the application. We recommend this program for 2nd year to 4th year students as well as faculty. These will be half day sessions. This year we propose to conduct the events in virtual mode due to the covid situation.
